I'm a visual thinker and I always like to have something to write on with me, even if it 's a little flip notepad from a train kiosk. Looking around my room, there are 30 or 40 notebooks from \100 shop student notebooks to the nearly perfect notebook, the "BOOK NOTE" with its luxuriant cloth cover and fine paper that is thin, but has a feeling of comportable sustainbility and is a dream to write on with a fountain pen. The pen flows on the paper and ink doesn't feather or bleed through. If the BOOK NOTE has slightlty larger pages (I write a lot) and had a bookmark ribbon, it would in fact be the perfect notebook. It is very close to perfect. I'm using three "BOOK NOTE" at the moment. One is my daily journal, what people used to call a diary. Another is an on-going workbook on how to write nobel. In that BOOK NOTE, I copy ideas from my reading, copy down my own answers and ideas. In the third "BOOK NOTE", I keep a record of ideas and plans for an ongoing project. I write a lot of notes on index cards and spare pieces of paper, but if I don't get them into my journal they end up in a pile (so many piles!), so I enter them into my BOOK NOTE and just because they are there, they become a work of art.

僕は視覚的にものを考える。だから僕は、駅の売店で売っていたりする小さなメモ帳など、書き留めるものを常に携帯している。僕の部屋は３０冊から４０冊のノートで溢れていて、そこには１００均で買う学習帳から、上品な布のカバーに包まれた「ほぼ完璧なBOOK NOTE」もある。BOOK NOTEの紙は薄いけど適度な重量感があって上質、万年筆との相性が最高だ。ペンは滑らかに進み、インクは滲んだり裏移りもしない。サイズがもうちょっと大きくて（僕は本当にたくさん書くので）、栞のひもが付いていたら、これはまさに完璧なノートになるだろう。現在僕は３冊のBOOK NOTEを使い分けている。「ダイアリー」という英語を最近耳にしないが、１冊には日記を綴り、もう１冊は小説の書き方を模索するためのワークブックとして使っている。参考になる手法を書き写したり、自分自身の解答やアイデアを書き留めたりしている。３冊目には現在書き進めているストーリーの構想やプランを記録している。僕はインデックスカードやそこいらの紙切れに手あたり次第メモ書きするので、ある段階でそれらをまとめておかないとメモ書きが山積みになってしまう。BOOK NOTEに書き込まれることで、単なるメモ書きは芸術的に生まれ変わるんだ。
